In the past few years we have noted an increase in the number of patients with dental allergies. As a result Dentus Dental Clinics have introduced a new service for our patients. Patients, before receiving treatment, are tested for allergies relating to materials and metals used in dentistry. This service is free of charge.
Most materials used in dentistry do not cause allergies. However, there are some materials which have metals in them and these are the ones which can cause dental allergies.
- amalgam,
- zinc,
- palladium,
- silver,
- gold,
- copper,
- cobalt,
- tin,
- molebdenum,
- chrome.
Dental materials which include metal are usually found in crowns, bridges, implants and fillings.
Another dental allergies that can occur are allergies to:
- dental anaesthetics,
- antibiotics,
- latex.
ALLERGY TESTING:
Allergies are tested using a BICOM® bioresonance device.
